Early cameras of the 16th and 17th century were competent to project images onto paper or glass but the study of capturing, processing and printing the images took galore more years. Up until the 17th century, scientists believed that light was composed fundamentally of the ‘white’ that is sensed by the humane eye. It took the exploration done by widely known and esteemed physicist Isaac Newton to discover that light is genuinely composed of a spectrum of colors. While he made a huge contribution to the study of optics (that is at the core of camera advances) with this discovery, Newton did not in truth have anything to do with camera development per se.

The early camera that basi became a phenomenon was a little more than a pinhole camera and may be traced back to 1558. It was called the Camera Obscura. The Camera Obscura was seen as a drawing tool for a clearer and realistic portrayal of objects. It was in the early 19th century that an invention named the Camera Lucida was introduced by Cambridge scientist William Hyde Wollaston that consisted of an optical device that could support an artisan view a distant scene or person or object on a paper surface that he or she was using to draw. In other words the artisan gets to view a superimposed effigy of a subject on paper and this effigy could be efficaciously employed to try to draw, trace or paint it. Both the Camera Obscura and the Camera Lucida provided an effigy that was temporary, which could not be lastingly captured on to paper for later reference.

Studies nonetheless continued well into the 1800′s on how to in truth capture the effigy onto material. It was for the duration of this time, around 1822 that French researcher Joseph Nicephore Niepce, devised the original photograph by using paper that was coated with a chemical. The effigy would not stay permanently on the paper and would decrease rapidly after a short while. Even so, in spite of the short-lived nature of the image, the conception of photography was born with this experiment and paved the way for further study and development in this field.

Capturing images to retain them longer and permanently became the next huge quest for researchers. Another Frenchman Louis-Jacques-Mandé Daguerre partnered with Joseph Nicéphore Niépce in 1829, to formulate the routine of creating permanent photographs. Joseph Niépce passed from physical life in 1833 but Daguerre continued with the work and succeeded in 1837 after numerous long years of experimentation. The routine of capturing photographic images that would not fade away, introduced by Daguerre came to be known as the ‘daguerreotype’.

The word ‘photography’ was coined by scientist Sir John F.W. Herschel in 1839 and it is in truth is derived from two Greek words ‘photos’ meaning light and ‘graphein’ meaning draw.

A somewhat more modern version of the daguerreotype called the Calotype routine that makes multiple copies possible using the negative and positive method became available very soon after. In fact, it was for the duration of the 1840′s that the use of photographic images in advertisements introductory started and cameras made their mark on the power of visual communication. It was not much later, in the 1850′s that photographers initial started experimenting with underwater photography of seascapes.

Up until 1850, the procedure of capturing images was cumbersome necessitating upto half an hour of light exposure. The invention made in 1851 by Frederick Scott Archer was a benediction since the new method termed the Collodion procedure called for just 2-3 seconds of light exposure to capture an image.

Prior to 1871, photographers went through a development procedure where they had to coat the plate with wet chemical each and each time and procedure the effigy immediately. With the invention the gelatin arid plate silver bromide procedure by Richard Leach Maddox, negatives did not have to be developed immediately. This was an essential invention since up until then the captured effigy had to be processed instantly.

Kodak developed in 1888 by George Eastman has been a progressed day pioneer of sorts in cameras and photography for the masses. George Eastman and the scientists who worked with him at Kodak invented the photographic film in 1889 and made it available in rolls for the mass use of consumers. An crucial milestone in our amusement and communicating history was the development of transparent roll film by Eastman. This development led to another key invention – the motion picture camera by Thomas Edison’s in 1891.

–>Modern Times

During the 20th century the pace of engineering development in cameras and photography continued at an quickened pace much like a good deal of other key technology developments. While assorted key inventions like car, telephone and the gramophone record happened in the later half of the 19th century, it is the last 100 years that saw major developmental work in a lot of areas of communications engineering science and as well as in other fields – TV, aircrafts, PCs, digital technology, digital cameras, mobile phones, fax machines and the internet, to name a few.

In the case of the camera, the developments simplified the whole procedure of photography, making it accessible to one and all at lowpriced prices and the camera industry denizens of our times made it into a mass phenomenon. The primary mass use camera became available at the turn of the 20th century and may be traced back to the year 1900. There are hundreds of models of cameras available today both for the novice as well as the professional and the camera is an necessary percentage of any family’s repertoire of will have to have gadgets.

–>20th century chronology in the history of the camera:

1913: 35 mm still-camera created

1927: The flash bulb introduced by General Electric Co. (The conception of camera flash existed much before but was based on the use of a flash light powder that was devised by German researchers)

1935- 1941: Kodak starts marketing Kodachrome film and subsequently launches Kodacolor negative film. Canon freed the Hansa Canon in 1936, the primary 35mm focal-plane shutter camera.

1948: The conception of the Polaroid camera is introduced in the market. American scientist Edwin Land developed the procedure for instant photography. Later Polaroid Corporation formulated the ‘instant color’ film around 1963.

1957: Frenchman Jaques Yves Cousteau devised the introductory waterproof 35mm camera for underwater photography named the Calypso Phot. The actual camera was produced by the Belgian airplane technical architect Jean de Wouters based on the blueprint and suggestions given to him by Cousteau.

1972: The electronic camera that does not require film was developed and patented by Texas Instruments. This is nevertheless not the same as a digital camera altho you don’t require film in digital cameras as well. The launch of the digital camera is still some years away.

1975: Kodak’s experiments with digital imaging kicked off around the mid seventies but it will take another 20 years before a digital camera for the home buyer market is launched.

1978 – 1980: Asian players like Konica and Sony get started to make their mark. The ‘point and shoot’ automatic focus camera is launched by Konica while Sony starts talking regarding the camcorder and demonstrates a prototype.

1981: Sony launches a commercially available electronic still camera. Similar to the 1972 invention by Texas Instruments, the Sony electronic camera came with a mini disc on which images were recorded and stored. The recorded images could be later printed or viewed on a monitor using a reader device.

1985: Digital processing technology makes it is entry. Digital imaging and processing is introduced by Pixar.

1986: The camera industry becomes even more buyer concentered and taps the fun and travel connotations behind camera usage, with the launch of the conception of the disposable single use cameras. Fuji is credited with the development of this concept.

Also in 1986 – 1987, Kodak started taking giant strides in digital development. Digital means, the photographic effigy is disunited into tiny units of dots or squares known as pixels. Pixels are the programmable units of an effigy that may be processed by computers. Each effigy could be made up of millions of pixels. The use of pixels in digital technology allows storing huge volumes of pixels to deliver high definition print quality.

1990: Kodak introduces Photo CD’s. It is a system of storing photographic images on CD and then observing them on a computer. With this development the user-friendly approach of the camera industry begun to take concrete shape.

1991: Kodak introduces a digital camera aimed at pros and journalists. Kodak is credited with the invention of a pixel based camera technology known to us as the digital camera. Digital cameras don’t use film similar to their predecessor electronic cameras but the storage method is wholly dissimilar and the final photograph is of much higher resolution. In a digital camera photos are recorded and stored in digital form. This digital data may be transposed to a computer and processed for printing. Kodak and Canon are well known digital camera makers and there are likewise assorted other key brands as well.

1994: The Apple QuickTake camera, a home use digital camera is launched. This is followed by the launch of a clutch of home use digital cameras by Casio, Kodak and others in quick succession for the duration of 1995 -’96.

–>The digital era:

The development of digital camera technology is considered to be linked to the development of TV and Video technology. The principles of transmission and recording of audio-visual images using digital electrical impulses finds use in camera imaging as well.

Through the 1990′s the developments continued in camera technology, the focus now shifting to the field of digital imaging which is where the future lies. Use-friendly features like software that may download digital images directly from camera onto home computers for storing and sharing on the internet is the new norm in the market place.

The camera, the computer, the software industry and the international web are today irrevocably interlinked to empower the user in experiencing the gains of camera usage to full potential. The innovation that sparked galore an invention in the camera industry found it is way into the digital world as well and continued amid digital camera manufacturers. During 2001, the Kodak and Microsoft cooperative relationship ensured that digital camera manufacturers could use the power of Picture Transfer Protocol (PTP) usual through Windows. The digital photo experience is a key visual driver in the Internet era. Many of Kodak digital camera models with EasyShare capablenesses are compatible with Windows XP. The Kodak EasyShare software enables users to transfer digital camera pictures directly from camera to their computers and then print the pictures or even email them.

Manufacturers in a related industry like the printing industry have adapted their productions to be in sync with the images developed by digital cameras. Cell phone makers have tied up with digital camera manufacturers to give rise to new age camera phones in recent years. These camera phones may capture images and share the images through the cell phone.

Among the 21st century digital developments are the innovative product offerings from digital cameras makers and these are sure to occupy an crucial place in the ensuing history of camera development. For instance, the Kodak Professional DCS Pro SLR/c is a high-end digital camera and the Kodak web site calls the DCS Pro SLR models the most feature-rich digital cameras on the market. It has an effigy sensor that may handle 13.89 million pixels and this makes it the most eminent solution digital camera available. High solution determines the sharpness or level of detail in photographic images. This is just a glimpse of the capablenesses that digital engineering science places in a user’s hands. Digital camera sales figures for 2003 show that the two key players Kodak and Canon have recorded impressive growth.

–>What does the future holds for camera users?

The features offered by digital cameras may be rather mind-boggling for the intermediate user and finelooking stimulating for most pros. Four key ongoing camera developments that are likely to further improve the routine of photography:

1. Greater solution from even the simplest, low cost camera models

2. Usage in any type of lighting conditions,

3. Compatibility throughout a range of software, hardware and effigy types

4. Rich colors and tone

While the higher-end digital evolution continues, the prices of the simple camera have crashed to such an extent that even children and teens are proud owners of unproblemati cameras. The camera and photography interest starts young and this produces a genuinely huge audience base for the camera industry.

And allround history, it is apparent that the endeavor of researchers and developers has been to make the camera available to a wide division of society. Without camera technology and photography, the other key developments of cinema and TV would have been delayed and what a boring place the world would have been without TV and films!!

Tobar
I remember how excited I was a couple of years ago when I found out that Kodak was going to release a NEW film. That excitement has definitely been justified.

Ektar 100 captures absolutely beautiful pictures. The grain is razor sharp and the colors are incredible. It has a unique look to it, which I’ve never seen with any other film (or digital for that matter). The colors are vibrant and saturated, especially red and blue. It’s one of my favorite color films now. It’s perfect for landscape and architectural photos, or any pictures where you really want the colors to “pop.” If you take a picture of something red contrasting against the blue sky, it really jumps…much more so than I’ve seen with any other film.

Every film has its own unique characteristics and has a certain look. I like using Ektar for when I want kind of a “fresh” vibrant look to pictures, if that makes sense.

I’ve used Ektar in both 35mm and 120 size rolls.

The only minor complaint I have about Ektar is that it’s extremely unforgiving with exposure. This is definitely NOT a film for beginners. It’s very picky about exposure, and doesn’t handle underexposure well at all. If you underexpose it, you will get some pretty weird color shifts and everything will have kind of a bluish tint. BUT if you use a light meter and you’re careful about the exposure, you will get absolutely amazing pictures.

I also recommend that you get your pictures printed (on REAL silver halide photographic paper, not ink jet!) Ektar looks its best in prints, and scans displayed on a computer screen just don’t do it justice.

I’ve seen some complaints on a Leica discussion site where people have had bad results with the film, but there are indications it may be due to the processing lab/company not developing the film as specified.

Mansouri
Since its introduction by Kodak, Ektar 100 has been frequently compared to slide film. While these comparisons are not entirely unwarranted given Ektar’s fine grain, saturated colors and heightened contrast, in my opinion it is far from a replacement for slide film as many claim it is.

Given the increasing scarcity of labs offering E6 processing and the rising costs of the process and films, the demand for a C41 film with similar characteristics to slide film has been steady building up. Kodak has been discontinuing their slide film range, and revamping their color negative lineup with updated films like the new Portra 400 and 160. Ektar is Kodak’s attempt to address the growing demand for an inexpensive and easily processed alternative to slide film (something they are clear about in their literature).

While the colors captured by Ektar are very pleasantly saturated and punchy, they are a markedly different palette from the colors of films like Velvia 50 or 100, Provia 100F or even Astia 100F. The same goes for latitude or dynamic range. Ektar features more contrast than the average color negative film, but still has significantly more latitude than slide film. These differences in color and contrast do not make any of these films better than the others, it just means that depending on what sort of visual quality a photographer is going for one film may be more suitable than the other.

One of the areas in which Ektar shines is for long-exposure images in high contrast situations such as urban night scenes. Slide films such as Provia 100F have excellent reciprocity characteristics, but can be difficult to work with due to the very wide range of tones in such scenes and the limited latitude of the film. Ektar is able to deliver saturated and contrasty images while retaining a great amount detail in the highlights. The wider latitude of Ektar compared to slides is great for situations where lighting is harsh or precision metering is not practical, though the film does have a bit less latitude than other color negative films such as Portra 400.

In conclusion, this is a great slow speed film for a wide range of subjects, just don’t expect to get the same image characteristics as slide film.

Early cameras of the 16th and 17th century were capable to project images onto paper or glass but the study of capturing, processing and printing the images took galore more years. Up until the 17th century, scientists believed that light was composed fundamentally of the ‘white’ that is sensed by the humane eye. It took the exploration done by famous physicist Isaac Newton to discover that light is in truth composed of a spectrum of colors. While he made a big contribution to the study of optics (that is at the core of camera advances) with this discovery, Newton did not in truth have anything to do with camera development per se.

The early camera that primary became a phenomenon was a little more than a pinhole camera and may be traced back to 1558. It was called the Camera Obscura. The Camera Obscura was seen as a drawing tool for a clearer and realistic portrayal of objects. It was in the early 19th century that an invention named the Camera Lucida was introduced by Cambridge scientist William Hyde Wollaston that consisted of an optical device that could help an artisan view a distant scene or person or object on a paper surface that he or she was using to draw. In other words the artisan gets to view a superimposed effigy of a subject on paper and this effigy could be efficaciously applied to undertake to draw, trace or paint it. Both the Camera Obscura and the Camera Lucida provided an effigy that was temporary, which could not be lastingly captured on to paper for later reference.

Studies nevertheless continued well into the 1800′s on how to genuinely capture the effigy onto material. It was for the duration of this time, around 1822 that French researcher Joseph Nicephore Niepce, developed the introductory photograph by using paper that was coated with a chemical. The effigy would not stay permanently on the paper and would vanish after a short while. Even so, in spite of the short-lived nature of the image, the conception of photography was born with this experiment and paved the way for further study and development in this field.

Capturing images to retain them longer and permanently became the next huge quest for researchers. Another Frenchman Louis-Jacques-Mandé Daguerre partnered with Joseph Nicéphore Niépce in 1829, to construct the routine of creating permanent photographs. Joseph Niépce passed from physical life in 1833 but Daguerre continued with the work and succeeded in 1837 after a great deal of long years of experimentation. The routine of capturing photographic images that would not fade away, introduced by Daguerre came to be known as the ‘daguerreotype’.

The word ‘photography’ was coined by scientist Sir John F.W. Herschel in 1839 and it is genuinely is derived from two Greek words ‘photos’ meaning light and ‘graphein’ meaning draw.

A more or less more progressed version of the daguerreotype called the Calotype procedure that makes multiple copies possible using the negative and positive method became available very soon after. In fact, it was for the duration of the 1840′s that the use of photographic images in advertisements original started and cameras made their mark on the power of visual communication. It was not much later, in the 1850′s that photographers original started experimenting with underwater photography of seascapes.

Up until 1850, the routine of capturing images was cumbersome requiring upto half an hour of light exposure. The invention made in 1851 by Frederick Scott Archer was a benediction since the new method termed the Collodion procedure called for just 2-3 seconds of light exposure to capture an image.

Prior to 1871, photographers went through a development procedure where they had to coat the plate with wet chemical each and each time and routine the effigy immediately. With the invention the gelatin arid plate silver bromide routine by Richard Leach Maddox, negatives did not have to be developed immediately. This was an important invention since up until then the captured effigy had to be processed instantly.

Kodak produced in 1888 by George Eastman has been a innovative day pioneer of sorts in cameras and photography for the masses. George Eastman and the scientists who worked with him at Kodak produced the photographic film in 1889 and made it available in rolls for the mass use of consumers. An indispensable milestone in our amusement and communicating history was the development of transparent roll film by Eastman. This development led to another key invention – the motion picture camera by Thomas Edison’s in 1891.

–>Modern Times

During the 20th century the pace of engineering development in cameras and photography continued at an sped up pace much like some other key engineering science developments. While various key inventions like car, telephone and the gramophone record happened in the later half of the 19th century, it is the last 100 years that saw major developmental work in a great deal of areas of communications technology and as well as in other fields – TV, aircrafts, PCs, digital technology, digital cameras, mobile phones, fax machines and the internet, to name a few.

In the case of the camera, the developments simplified the whole procedure of photography, making it accessible to one and all at lowcost prices and the camera industry denizens of our times made it into a mass phenomenon. The introductory mass use camera became available at the turn of the 20th century and may be traced back to the year 1900. There are hundreds of models of cameras available today both for the novice as well as the professional and the camera is an important part of any family’s repertoire of will have to have gadgets.

–>20th century chronology in the history of the camera:

1913: 35 mm still-camera created

1927: The flash bulb introduced by General Electric Co. (The conception of camera flash existed much before but was based on the use of a flash light powder that was developed by German researchers)

1935- 1941: Kodak starts merchandising Kodachrome film and subsequently launches Kodacolor negative film. Canon freed the Hansa Canon in 1936, the introductory 35mm focal-plane shutter camera.

1948: The conception of the Polaroid camera is introduced in the market. American scientist Edwin Land developed the routine for instant photography. Later Polaroid Corporation formulated the ‘instant color’ film around 1963.

1957: Frenchman Jaques Yves Cousteau formulated the primary waterproof 35mm camera for underwater photography named the Calypso Phot. The actual camera was produced by the Belgian airplane technical architect Jean de Wouters based on the blueprint and suggestions given to him by Cousteau.

1972: The electronic camera that does not require film was devised and patented by Texas Instruments. This is nonetheless not the same as a digital camera altho you don’t require film in digital cameras as well. The launch of the digital camera is still a great deal of years away.

1975: Kodak’s experiments with digital imaging kicked off around the mid seventies but it will take another 20 years before a digital camera for the home buyer market is launched.

1978 – 1980: Asian players like Konica and Sony get started to make their mark. The ‘point and shoot’ automatic focus camera is launched by Konica while Sony starts talking in regards to the camcorder and demonstrates a prototype.

1981: Sony launches a commercially available electronic still camera. Similar to the 1972 invention by Texas Instruments, the Sony electronic camera came with a mini disc on which images were recorded and stored. The recorded images could be later printed or viewed on a monitor using a reader device.

1985: Digital processing engineering makes it is entry.

The use of pixels in digital engineering allows storing big volumes of pixels to deliver high definition print quality.

1990: Kodak introduces Photo CD’s. It is a system of storing photographic images on CD and then looking at them on a computer. With this development the user-friendly approach of the camera industry started out to take concrete shape.

1991: Kodak introduces a digital camera purposed at masters and journalists. Kodak is credited with the invention of a pixel based camera engineering science known to us as the digital camera. Digital cameras don’t use film similar to their predecessor electronic cameras but the storage method is totally dissimilar and the final photograph is of much higher resolution. In a digital camera photos are recorded and stored in digital form. This digital info may be transposed to a computer and processed for printing. Kodak and Canon are well known digital camera manufacturers and there are likewise assorted other key brands as well.

The innovation that sparked a great deal of an invention in the camera industry found it is way into the digital world as well and continued amidst digital camera manufacturers. During 2001, the Kodak and Microsoft cooperative relationship ensured that digital camera makers could use the power of Picture Transfer Protocol (PTP) standard through Windows.

Manufacturers in a related industry like the printing industry have adapted their merchandise to be in sync with the images formulated by digital cameras. Cell phone makers have tied up with digital camera makers to give rise to new age camera phones in recent years. These camera phones may capture images and part the images through the cell phone.

Among the 21st century digital developments are the modern product offerings from digital cameras manufacturers and these are sure to occupy an crucial place in the ensuing history of camera development. This is just a glimpse of the capablenesses that digital technology places in a user’s hands. Digital camera sales figures for 2003 show that the two key players Kodak and Canon have recorded impressive growth.

–>What does the future holds for camera users?

The features offered by digital cameras may be rather mind-boggling for the intermediate user and pretty stimulating for most pros. Four key ongoing camera developments that are likely to further improve the routine of photography:

1. Greater solution from even the simplest, low cost camera models

2. Usage in any type of lighting conditions,

3. Compatibility all over a range of software, hardware and effigy types

4. Rich colors and tone

While the higher-end digital evolution continues, the prices of the simple camera have crashed to such an extent that even children and teens are proud owners of unproblemati cameras. The camera and photography interest starts young and this brings about a veritably big audience base for the camera industry.

And allround history, it is apparent that the endeavor of researchers and developers has been to make the camera available to a wide section of society. Without camera engineering science and photography, the other key developments of cinema and TV would have been delayed and what a boring place the world would have been without TV and films!!

Both the Kodak and Fuji look very similar with a sealed plastic case (with slight positive buoyancy) and thick rubberbands for securing to a wrist or clipping to a BCD.

I have to give the edge to the Fuji in terms of both design and results. The Fuji was easier to wind and to snap shots with and the pictures came out sharper. The 800 film in the Kodak produced shots that were way too grainy.

Mufti
This camera looks really good and promising. Although Kodak says it could down to 50ft, the camera itself has the phrase “max 35ft or 10m” written on it. But we reached 60ft and nothing happened to it. It didn’t break or leak! It also is a little bit buoyant, which means it won’t sink if dropped, instead it will ascend.

It has two disadvantages; the first is its lack to a flash. There isn’t much sunlight under 35ft of sea water and so the photos turned out a little too dark and bluish. After color correction the photos turned so pale and spotted. The pictures taken above 20ft were awesome. The second disadvantage is that the camera’s eye lens it too small for someone who is wearing a diving mask (goggle).

The camera doesn’t lose its color to the eye even under 60ft since it is blue. And it has a place where a rope or a nylon tape can be tied to it so it can be attached to the diving jacket (BCD).

It is not perfect, but it’s the best.

We went snorkeling in Molikini (who hasn’t?) and I have to say 3 things about this camera that have been mentioned already but need to be taken into serious consideration.

1. Price – A $10 waterproof disposable camera is very reasonable. I think for the price this camera is everything it is suppossed to be. The charter we went on the snorkeling trip with was renting $400 cameras with all the bells and whistles for $20 and $10 per roll of film.

2. Flash – For a snorkeling trip, and staying close to the surface I have to say this camera didn’t do too bad. The colors were a bit blueish but nothing that I can’t live with. As far as my 25 foot dive down to a turtle to get a picture, I shouldn’t have wasted the picture, it is dark and blurry without a flash.

3. Eye Piece – This is a big pain to use with goggles. I eventually stopped trying to aim and just started snapping pictures. I would have to say that to be able to take clear photos underwater this camera needs a bigger eye piece.

Overall I was satisfied with this camera but to tell you the truth I wish I would have rented the camera from the boat with the flash (if only for the picture of me and a giant turtle).

Early cameras of the 16th and 17th century were competent to project images onto paper or glass but the study of capturing, processing and printing the images took a great deal of more years. Up until the 17th century, scientists believed that light was composed fundamentally of the ‘white’ that is sensed by the humane eye. It took the exploration done by widely known and esteemed physicist Isaac Newton to discover that light is actually composed of a spectrum of colors. While he made a big contribution to the study of optics (that is at the core of camera advances) with this discovery, Newton did not actually have anything to do with camera development per se.

The early camera that basi became a phenomenon was a little more than a pinhole camera and may be traced back to 1558. It was called the Camera Obscura. The Camera Obscura was seen as a drawing tool for a clearer and realistic portrayal of objects. It was in the early 19th century that an invention named the Camera Lucida was introduced by Cambridge scientist William Hyde Wollaston that consisted of an optical device that could aid an artisan view a distant scene or person or object on a paper surface that he or she was using to draw.

Studies nevertheless continued well into the 1800′s on how to in truth capture the effigy onto material. It was for the duration of this time, around 1822 that French researcher Joseph Nicephore Niepce, developed the initial photograph by using paper that was coated with a chemical.

Another Frenchman Louis-Jacques-Mandé Daguerre partnered with Joseph Nicéphore Niépce in 1829, to create the routine of creating permanent photographs. Joseph Niépce passed away in 1833 but Daguerre continued with the work and succeeded in 1837 after a good deal of long years of experimentation. The procedure of capturing photographic images that would not fade away, introduced by Daguerre came to be known as the ‘daguerreotype’.

The word ‘photography’ was coined by scientist Sir John F.W. Herschel in 1839 and it is in truth is derived from two Greek words ‘photos’ meaning light and ‘graphein’ meaning draw.

A more or less more innovative version of the daguerreotype called the Calotype procedure that makes multiple copies possible using the negative and positive method became available very soon after. In fact, it was for the duration of the 1840′s that the use of photographic images in advertisements introductory started and cameras made their mark on the power of visual communication. It was not much later, in the 1850′s that photographers primary started experimenting with underwater photography of seascapes.

Up until 1850, the routine of capturing images was cumbersome necessitating upto half an hour of light exposure.

With the invention the gelatin arid plate silver bromide routine by Richard Leach Maddox, negatives did not have to be produced immediately. This was an indispensable invention since up until then the captured effigy had to be processed instantly.

Kodak developed in 1888 by George Eastman has been a innovative day pioneer of sorts in cameras and photography for the masses. George Eastman and the scientists who worked with him at Kodak developed the photographic film in 1889 and made it available in rolls for the mass use of consumers. An indispensable milestone in our amusement and communication history was the development of transparent roll film by Eastman. This development led to another key invention – the motion picture camera by Thomas Edison’s in 1891.

–>Modern Times

During the 20th century the pace of engineering science development in cameras and photography continued at an sped pace much like some other key technology developments. While various key inventions like car, telephone and the gramophone record happened in the later half of the 19th century, it is the last 100 years that saw major developmental work in a great deal of areas of communications engineering and as well as in other fields – TV, aircrafts, PCs, digital technology, digital cameras, mobile phones, fax machines and the internet, to name a few.

In the case of the camera, the developments simplified the whole routine of photography, making it accessible to one and all at lowcost prices and the camera industry denizens of our times made it into a mass phenomenon. The introductory mass use camera became available at the turn of the 20th century and may be traced back to the year 1900. There are hundreds of models of cameras available today both for the novice as well as the professional and the camera is an essential part of any family’s repertoire of will have to have gadgets.

–>20th century chronology in the history of the camera:

1913: 35 mm still-camera created

1927: The flash bulb introduced by General Electric Co. (The conception of camera flash existed much before but was based on the use of a flash light powder that was invented by German researchers)

1935- 1941: Kodak starts syndication Kodachrome film and subsequently launches Kodacolor negative film. Canon freed the Hansa Canon in 1936, the primary 35mm focal-plane shutter camera.

1948: The conception of the Polaroid camera is introduced in the market. American scientist Edwin Land developed the procedure for instant photography. Later Polaroid Corporation developed the ‘instant color’ film around 1963.

1957: Frenchman Jaques Yves Cousteau formulated the basi waterproof 35mm camera for underwater photography named the Calypso Phot. The actual camera was devised by the Belgian airplane technical architect Jean de Wouters based on the blueprint and suggestions given to him by Cousteau.

1972: The electronic camera that does not require film was produced and patented by Texas Instruments. This is notwithstanding not the same as a digital camera even though you don’t require film in digital cameras as well. The launch of the digital camera is still a heap of years away.

1975: Kodak’s experiments with digital imaging kicked off around the mid seventies but it will take another 20 years before a digital camera for the home buyer market is launched.

1978 – 1980: Asian players like Konica and Sony commence to make their mark.

1986: The camera industry becomes even more buyer focalized and taps the fun and travel connotations behind camera usage, with the launch of the conception of the disposable single use cameras. Fuji is credited with the development of this concept.

Also in 1986 – 1987, Kodak started taking giant strides in digital development. Digital means, the photographic effigy is separated into tiny units of dots or squares known as pixels. Pixels are the programmable units of an effigy that may be processed by computers. Each effigy could be made up of millions of pixels. The use of pixels in digital technology allows storing huge volumes of pixels to deliver high definition print quality.

1990: Kodak introduces Photo CD’s. It is a system of storing photographic images on CD and then watching them on a computer. With this development the user-friendly approach of the camera industry begun to take concrete shape.

1991: Kodak introduces a digital camera aimed at pros and journalists. Kodak is credited with the invention of a pixel based camera engineering known to us as the digital camera. Digital cameras don’t use film similar to their predecessor electronic cameras but the storage method is altogether dissimilar and the final photograph is of much higher resolution. In a digital camera photos are recorded and stored in digital form. This digital info may be transposed to a computer and processed for printing. Kodak and Canon are well known digital camera manufacturers and there are also assorted other key brands as well.

1994: The Apple QuickTake camera, a home use digital camera is launched. This is followed by the launch of a clutch of home use digital cameras by Casio, Kodak and others in quick succession for the duration of 1995 -’96.

–>The digital era:

The development of digital camera engineering science is considered to be linked to the development of TV and Video technology.

The camera, the computer, the software industry and the global web are today irrevocably interlinked to empower the user in experiencing the gains of camera usage to full potential. The innovation that sparked a good deal of an invention in the camera industry found it is way into the digital world as well and continued amidst digital camera manufacturers. During 2001, the Kodak and Microsoft cooperative relationship ensured that digital camera makers could use the power of Picture Transfer Protocol (PTP) popular through Windows.

Manufacturers in a affiliated industry like the printing industry have adapted their productions to be in sync with the images produced by digital cameras. Cell phone makers have tied up with digital camera manufacturers to manufacture new age camera phones in recent years. These camera phones may capture images and portion the images through the cell phone.

Among the 21st century digital developments are the innovative product offerings from digital cameras makers and these are sure to occupy an important place in the ensuing history of camera development. For instance, the Kodak Professional DCS Pro SLR/c is a high-end digital camera and the Kodak internetlocation calls the DCS Pro SLR models the most feature-rich digital cameras on the market. It has an effigy sensor that may handle 13.89 million pixels and this makes it the most eminent solution digital camera available. High solution determines the sharpness or level of detail in photographic images. This is just a glimpse of the capablenesses that digital technology places in a user’s hands. Digital camera sales figures for 2003 show that the two key players Kodak and Canon have recorded impressive growth.

–>What does the future holds for camera users?

The features offered by digital cameras may be rather mind-boggling for the intermediate user and gorgeous stimulating for most pros.

The camera and photography interest starts young and this gives rise to a veritably huge audience base for the camera industry.

And all around history, it is apparent that the endeavor of researchers and developers has been to make the camera available to a wide division of society. Without camera engineering science and photography, the other key developments of cinema and TV would have been delayed and what a boring place the world would have been without TV and films!!

Early cameras of the 16th and 17th century were capable to project images onto paper or glass but the study of capturing, processing and printing the images took a lot of more years. Up until the 17th century, scientists believed that light was composed basically of the ‘white’ that is sensed by the humane eye. It took the exploration done by famous physicist Isaac Newton to discover that light is genuinely composed of a spectrum of colors. While he made a big contribution to the study of optics (that is at the core of camera advances) with this discovery, Newton did not genuinely have anything to do with camera development per se.

The early camera that basi became a phenomenon was a little more than a pinhole camera and may be traced back to 1558. It was called the Camera Obscura. The Camera Obscura was seen as a drawing tool for a clearer and realistic portrayal of objects. It was in the early 19th century that an invention named the Camera Lucida was introduced by Cambridge scientist William Hyde Wollaston that consisted of an optical device that could help an artisan view a distant scene or person or object on a paper surface that he or she was using to draw. In other words the artisan gets to view a superimposed effigy of a subject on paper and this effigy could be efficaciously applied to try to draw, trace or paint it. Both the Camera Obscura and the Camera Lucida provided an effigy that was temporary, which could not be lastingly captured on to paper for later reference.

Studies nevertheless continued well into the 1800′s on how to actually capture the effigy onto material. It was for the duration of this time, around 1822 that French researcher Joseph Nicephore Niepce, devised the basi photograph by using paper that was coated with a chemical. The effigy would not stay permanently on the paper and would vanish after a short while. Even so, in spite of the short-lived nature of the image, the conception of photography was born with this experiment and paved the way for further study and development in this field.

Capturing images to retain them longer and permanently became the next big quest for researchers. Another Frenchman Louis-Jacques-Mandé Daguerre partnered with Joseph Nicéphore Niépce in 1829, to develop the routine of creating permanent photographs.

Herschel in 1839 and it is genuinely is derived from two Greek words ‘photos’ meaning light and ‘graphein’ meaning draw.

A more or less more innovative version of the daguerreotype called the Calotype routine that makes multiple copies possible using the negative and positive method became available very soon after. In fact, it was for the duration of the 1840′s that the use of photographic images in advertisements basi started and cameras made their mark on the power of visual communication. It was not much later, in the 1850′s that photographers basi started experimenting with underwater photography of seascapes.

Up until 1850, the routine of capturing images was cumbersome necessitating upto half an hour of light exposure. The invention made in 1851 by Frederick Scott Archer was a benediction since the new method termed the Collodion procedure called for just 2-3 seconds of light exposure to capture an image.

Prior to 1871, photographers went through a development routine where they had to coat the plate with wet chemical each and each time and procedure the effigy immediately. With the invention the gelatin arid plate silver bromide procedure by Richard Leach Maddox, negatives did not have to be formulated immediately. This was an crucial invention since up until then the captured effigy had to be processed instantly.

Kodak devised in 1888 by George Eastman has been a innovative day pioneer of sorts in cameras and photography for the masses. George Eastman and the scientists who worked with him at Kodak invented the photographic film in 1889 and made it available in rolls for the mass use of consumers. An primary milestone in our amusement and communication history was the development of transparent roll film by Eastman. This development led to another key invention – the motion picture camera by Thomas Edison’s in 1891.

–>Modern Times

During the 20th century the pace of engineering development in cameras and photography continued at an sped up pace much like numerous other key engineering developments. While various key inventions like car, telephone and the gramophone record happened in the later half of the 19th century, it is the last 100 years that saw major developmental work in a great deal of areas of communications engineering science and as well as in other fields – TV, aircrafts, PCs, digital technology, digital cameras, mobile phones, fax machines and the internet, to name a few.

In the case of the camera, the developments simplified the whole routine of photography, making it accessible to one and all at lowcost prices and the camera industry denizens of our times made it into a mass phenomenon. The initial mass use camera became available at the turn of the 20th century and may be traced back to the year 1900. There are hundreds of models of cameras available today both for the novice as well as the professional and the camera is an primary percentage of any family’s repertoire of ought to have gadgets.

–>20th century chronology in the history of the camera:

1913: 35 mm still-camera created

1927: The flash bulb introduced by General Electric Co. (The conception of camera flash existed much before but was based on the use of a flash light powder that was devised by German researchers)

1935- 1941: Kodak starts retail Kodachrome film and subsequently launches Kodacolor negative film. Canon freed the Hansa Canon in 1936, the original 35mm focal-plane shutter camera.

1948: The conception of the Polaroid camera is introduced in the market. American scientist Edwin Land devised the procedure for instant photography. Later Polaroid Corporation devised the ‘instant color’ film around 1963.

1957: Frenchman Jaques Yves Cousteau formulated the initial waterproof 35mm camera for underwater photography named the Calypso Phot. The actual camera was developed by the Belgian airplane technical architect Jean de Wouters based on the blueprint and suggestions given to him by Cousteau.

1978 – 1980: Asian players like Konica and Sony start out to make their mark. The ‘point and shoot’ automatic focus camera is launched by Konica while Sony starts talking with regards to the camcorder and demonstrates a prototype.

The use of pixels in digital engineering allows storing huge volumes of pixels to deliver high definition print quality.

1990: Kodak introduces Photo CD’s. It is a scheme of storing photographic images on CD and then looking at them on a computer. With this development the user-friendly approach of the camera industry begun to take concrete shape.

1991: Kodak introduces a digital camera aimed at masters and journalists. Kodak is credited with the invention of a pixel based camera engineering known to us as the digital camera. Digital cameras don’t use film similar to their predecessor electronic cameras but the storage method is wholly dissimilar and the final photograph is of much higher resolution. In a digital camera photos are recorded and stored in digital form. This digital selective information may be transposed to a computer and processed for printing. Kodak and Canon are well known digital camera makers and there are also assorted other key brands as well.

1994: The Apple QuickTake camera, a home use digital camera is launched. This is followed by the launch of a clutch of home use digital cameras by Casio, Kodak and others in quick succession for the duration of 1995 -’96.

–>The digital era:

The development of digital camera engineering is considered to be linked to the development of TV and Video technology.

During 2001, the Kodak and Microsoft cooperative relationship ensured that digital camera makers could use the power of Picture Transfer Protocol (PTP) popular through Windows.

Manufacturers in a related industry like the printing industry have adapted their merchandise to be in sync with the images invented by digital cameras. Cell phone manufacturers have tied up with digital camera makers to fabricate new age camera phones in recent years. These camera phones may capture images and part the images through the cell phone.

Among the 21st century digital developments are the progressed product offerings from digital cameras manufacturers and these are sure to occupy an indispensable place in the ensuing history of camera development. For instance, the Kodak Professional DCS Pro SLR/c is a high-end digital camera and the Kodak internet site calls the DCS Pro SLR models the most feature-rich digital cameras on the market. It has an effigy sensor that may handle 13.89 million pixels and this makes it the most eminent solution digital camera available. High solution determines the sharpness or level of detail in photographic images. This is just a glimpse of the capablenesses that digital engineering places in a user’s hands. Digital camera sales figures for 2003 show that the two key players Kodak and Canon have recorded impressive growth.

–>What does the future holds for camera users?

The features offered by digital cameras may be rather mind-boggling for the intermediate user and beauteous stimulating for most pros. Four key ongoing camera developments that are likely to further improve the procedure of photography:

1. Greater solution from even the simplest, low cost camera models

2. Usage in any type of lighting conditions,

3. Compatibility throughout a range of software, hardware and effigy types

4. Rich colors and tone

While the higher-end digital evolution continues, the prices of the simple camera have crashed to such an extent that even children and teens are proud owners of uncomplicated cameras. The camera and photography interest starts young and this gives rise to a genuinely big audience base for the camera industry.

And allround history, it is apparent that the endeavor of researchers and developers has been to make the camera available to a wide section of society. Without camera technology and photography, the other key developments of cinema and TV would have been delayed and what a boring place the world would have been without TV and films!!

Early cameras of the 16th and 17th century were capable to project images onto paper or glass but the study of capturing, processing and printing the images took a great deal of more years. Up until the 17th century, scientists believed that light was composed basically of the ‘white’ that is sensed by the humane eye. It took the exploration done by famous physicist Isaac Newton to discover that light is actually composed of a spectrum of colors. While he made a big contribution to the study of optics (that is at the core of camera advances) with this discovery, Newton did not genuinely have anything to do with camera development per se.

The early camera that introductory became a phenomenon was a little more than a pinhole camera and may be traced back to 1558. In other words the artisan gets to view a superimposed effigy of a subject on paper and this effigy could be efficaciously used to undertake to draw, trace or paint it. Both the Camera Obscura and the Camera Lucida provided an effigy that was temporary, which could not be lastingly captured on to paper for later reference.

Studies notwithstanding continued well into the 1800′s on how to actually capture the effigy onto material. It was for the duration of this time, around 1822 that French researcher Joseph Nicephore Niepce, formulated the basi photograph by using paper that was coated with a chemical. The effigy would not stay permanently on the paper and would vanish after a short while. Even so, in spite of the short-lived nature of the image, the conception of photography was born with this experiment and paved the way for further study and development in this field.

Capturing images to retain them longer and permanently became the next big quest for researchers. Another Frenchman Louis-Jacques-Mandé Daguerre partnered with Joseph Nicéphore Niépce in 1829, to fabricate the procedure of creating permanent photographs. Joseph Niépce passed away in 1833 but Daguerre continued with the work and succeeded in 1837 after a good deal of long years of experimentation.

A more or less more modern version of the daguerreotype called the Calotype routine that makes multiple copies possible using the negative and positive method became available very soon after. In fact, it was for the duration of the 1840′s that the use of photographic images in advertisements firstborn started and cameras made their mark on the power of visual communication. It was not much later, in the 1850′s that photographers primary started experimenting with underwater photography of seascapes.

Up until 1850, the procedure of capturing images was cumbersome calling for upto half an hour of light exposure. The invention made in 1851 by Frederick Scott Archer was a benediction since the new method termed the Collodion procedure called for just 2-3 seconds of light exposure to capture an image.

Prior to 1871, photographers went through a development routine where they had to coat the plate with wet chemical each and each time and routine the effigy immediately. With the invention the gelatin arid plate silver bromide routine by Richard Leach Maddox, negatives did not have to be developed immediately. This was an important invention since up until then the captured effigy had to be processed instantly.

Kodak developed in 1888 by George Eastman has been a modern day pioneer of sorts in cameras and photography for the masses.

During the 20th century the pace of engineering development in cameras and photography continued at an sped pace much like a great deal of other key engineering science developments. While assorted key inventions like car, telephone and the gramophone record happened in the later half of the 19th century, it is the last 100 years that saw major developmental work in a great deal of areas of communications technology and as well as in other fields – TV, aircrafts, PCs, digital technology, digital cameras, mobile phones, fax machines and the internet, to name a few.

In the case of the camera, the developments simplified the whole procedure of photography, making it accessible to one and all at lowcost prices and the camera industry denizens of our times made it into a mass phenomenon. The introductory mass use camera became available at the turn of the 20th century and may be traced back to the year 1900. There are hundreds of models of cameras available today both for the novice as well as the professional and the camera is an essential portion of any family’s repertoire of must have gadgets.

–>20th century chronology in the history of the camera:

1913: 35 mm still-camera created

1927: The flash bulb introduced by General Electric Co. (The conception of camera flash existed much before but was based on the use of a flash light powder that was devised by German researchers)

1935- 1941: Kodak starts merchandising Kodachrome film and subsequently launches Kodacolor negative film. Canon freed the Hansa Canon in 1936, the original 35mm focal-plane shutter camera.

1948: The conception of the Polaroid camera is introduced in the market. American scientist Edwin Land invented the procedure for instant photography. Later Polaroid Corporation formulated the ‘instant color’ film around 1963.

1957: Frenchman Jaques Yves Cousteau devised the firstborn waterproof 35mm camera for underwater photography named the Calypso Phot. The actual camera was produced by the Belgian airplane technical architect Jean de Wouters based on the blueprint and suggestions given to him by Cousteau.

1972: The electronic camera that does not require film was produced and patented by Texas Instruments. This is notwithstanding not the same as a digital camera though you don’t require film in digital cameras as well. The launch of the digital camera is still some years away.

1975: Kodak’s experiments with digital imaging kicked off around the mid seventies but it will take another 20 years before a digital camera for the home buyer market is launched.

1978 – 1980: Asian players like Konica and Sony start out to make their mark.

1985: Digital processing engineering makes it is entry.

It is a system of storing photographic images on CD and then watching them on a computer. With this development the user-friendly approach of the camera industry begun to take concrete shape.

1991: Kodak introduces a digital camera purposed at pros and journalists. This digital data may be transposed to a computer and processed for printing. Kodak and Canon are well known digital camera makers and there are likewise various other key brands as well.

The camera, the computer, the software industry and the global web are today irrevocably interlinked to empower the user in experiencing the gains of camera usage to full potential. The innovation that sparked a great deal of an invention in the camera industry found it is way into the digital world as well and continued amid digital camera manufacturers. During 2001, the Kodak and Microsoft cooperative relationship ensured that digital camera makers could use the power of Picture Transfer Protocol (PTP) frequent through Windows.

Manufacturers in a related industry like the printing industry have adapted their merchandise to be in sync with the images developed by digital cameras. Cell phone manufacturers have tied up with digital camera makers to give rise to new age camera phones in recent years. These camera phones may capture images and portion the images through the cell phone.

Among the 21st century digital developments are the progressed product offerings from digital cameras manufacturers and these are sure to occupy an necessary place in the ensuing history of camera development. This is just a glimpse of the capablenesses that digital engineering places in a user’s hands. Digital camera sales figures for 2003 show that the two key players Kodak and Canon have recorded impressive growth.

–>What does the future holds for camera users?

The features offered by digital cameras may be rather mind-boggling for the intermediate user and finelooking stimulating for most pros. Four key ongoing camera developments that are likely to further improve the routine of photography:

1. Greater solution from even the simplest, low cost camera models

2. Usage in any type of lighting conditions,

3. Compatibility all over a range of software, hardware and effigy types

4. Rich colors and tone

While the higher-end digital evolution continues, the prices of the simple camera have crashed to such an extent that even children and teens are proud owners of uncomplicated cameras. The camera and photography interest starts young and this brings about a veritably huge audience base for the camera industry.

And all around history, it is evident that the endeavor of researchers and developers has been to make the camera available to a wide division of society. Without camera engineering and photography, the other key developments of cinema and TV would have been delayed and what a boring place the world would have been without TV and films!!

Annarella
I purchased the squaretrade 2 year warranty for my camera purchased on E bay. The camera mal functioned after one year and square trade fixed the camera with out a problem. Afer many, many and I mean many photos taken the camera it mal functioned again, I called squaretrade to have it repaired again under the warranty, but they refused stating the cost of the repair exceeded the cost of the camera, 1st repair was $ 135.00 cost to square trade, and they would not repair or replace it again. They only thing they could do is send me a check for the difference of the original cost of the camera less the 1 st repair cost which was about $ 22.00. So read the fine print, this is not an unlimited warranty! I was a little disappointed. The rep on the phone stated that the comera should have not been repaired the 1st time because of the high cost of repair compared to the cost of the camera.

R. Guidry
I bought a Kodak M1033 digital camera on eBay and decided it would be a good idea to take a warranty on it thru Square Trade as I use the camera for my eBay auctions to attach pictures. I bought this camera about 8 months ago. I have another couple of warranties with Square Trade and haven’t had to use any of them until now. As with most electronics, they sometimes break or start going bad after a short while so a warranty is a good idea, especially when you buy an item on eBay that doesn’t have a warranty. I contacted Square Trade about my dead camera and they recommended I send it back to them so their Product Specialists could confirm what I told them what was wrong with my camera. After receiving my camera they assessed it and confirmed the camera had a faulty internal problem. An email was sent to me from Square Trade stating they had finished assessing my claim and that I was eligible for a full payout. They sent 100% of my money to my PayPal account (within 24 hours) that I paid for my camera. After receiving my money I went back to eBay and bought another brand new Kodak M1033 camera. It hasn’t arrived yet but when it does I will surely take another warranty thru Square Trade. The warranties from Square Trade are very reasonable and are better and cheaper than you can get at a retail outlet. I highly recommend Square Trade for all your warranty needs. They are a top shelve company with a no hassle commitment to their customers. I have nothing but praise for the Square Trade team.
J. R. Guidry

H. Vo
My sister let me know I was getting a camera for Christmas & when she did I looked into purchasing a SquareTrade warranty with accidental protection for it. I am so glad that I did because 2 weeks ago I dropped my camera while trying to take a picture & it stopped working completely with a lens failure. The next day I logged into my account, submitted my claim, and was sent an e-mail with a link to print out a pre-paid shipping label to send in my damaged camera. Less than a full week had passed by from when I first dropped my camera to when I was refunded the complete purchase price of it! I HIGHLY recommend using SquareTrade to protect your electronics & look forward to using it again for my next camera.

Early cameras of the 16th and 17th century were capable to project images onto paper or glass but the study of capturing, processing and printing the images took numerous more years. Up until the 17th century, scientists believed that light was composed basically of the ‘white’ that is sensed by the humane eye. It took the exploration done by widely known and esteemed physicist Isaac Newton to discover that light is genuinely composed of a spectrum of colors. While he made a big contribution to the study of optics (that is at the core of camera advances) with this discovery, Newton did not actually have anything to do with camera development per se.

In other words the artisan gets to view a superimposed effigy of a subject on paper and this effigy could be efficaciously used to try to draw, trace or paint it. Both the Camera Obscura and the Camera Lucida provided an effigy that was temporary, which could not be lastingly captured on to paper for later reference.

Studies nonetheless continued well into the 1800′s on how to actually capture the effigy onto material. It was for the duration of this time, around 1822 that French researcher Joseph Nicephore Niepce, formulated the basi photograph by using paper that was coated with a chemical. The effigy would not stay permanently on the paper and would decrease rapidly after a short while. Even so, in spite of the short-lived nature of the image, the conception of photography was born with this experiment and paved the way for further study and development in this field.

Capturing images to retain them longer and permanently became the next big quest for researchers. Another Frenchman Louis-Jacques-Mandé Daguerre partnered with Joseph Nicéphore Niépce in 1829, to give rise to the procedure of creating permanent photographs. Joseph Niépce passed from physical life in 1833 but Daguerre continued with the work and succeeded in 1837 after a heap of long years of experimentation. The procedure of capturing photographic images that would not fade away, introduced by Daguerre came to be known as the ‘daguerreotype’.

The word ‘photography’ was coined by scientist Sir John F.W. Herschel in 1839 and it is actually is derived from two Greek words ‘photos’ meaning light and ‘graphein’ meaning draw.

A more or less more progressed version of the daguerreotype called the Calotype routine that makes multiple copies possible using the negative and positive method became available very soon after. In fact, it was for the duration of the 1840′s that the use of photographic images in advertisements firstborn started and cameras made their mark on the power of visual communication. It was not much later, in the 1850′s that photographers firstborn started experimenting with underwater photography of seascapes.

Up until 1850, the routine of capturing images was cumbersome necessitating upto half an hour of light exposure. The invention made in 1851 by Frederick Scott Archer was a benediction since the new method termed the Collodion procedure called for just 2-3 seconds of light exposure to capture an image.

Prior to 1871, photographers went through a development procedure where they had to coat the plate with wet chemical each and each time and procedure the effigy immediately. With the invention the gelatin arid plate silver bromide procedure by Richard Leach Maddox, negatives did not have to be devised immediately. This was an crucial invention since up until then the captured effigy had to be processed instantly.

Kodak formulated in 1888 by George Eastman has been a innovative day pioneer of sorts in cameras and photography for the masses.

During the 20th century the pace of engineering development in cameras and photography continued at an quickened pace much like a good deal of other key engineering developments. While assorted key inventions like car, telephone and the gramophone record happened in the later half of the 19th century, it is the last 100 years that saw major developmental work in a good deal of areas of communications engineering science and as well as in other fields – TV, aircrafts, PCs, digital technology, digital cameras, mobile phones, fax machines and the internet, to name a few.

In the case of the camera, the developments simplified the whole procedure of photography, making it accessible to one and all at lowpriced prices and the camera industry denizens of our times made it into a mass phenomenon. The original mass use camera became available at the turn of the 20th century and may be traced back to the year 1900. There are hundreds of models of cameras available today both for the novice as well as the professional and the camera is an essential share of any family’s repertoire of ought to have gadgets.

–>20th century chronology in the history of the camera:

1913: 35 mm still-camera created

1927: The flash bulb introduced by General Electric Co. (The conception of camera flash existed much before but was based on the use of a flash light powder that was formulated by German researchers)

1935- 1941: Kodak starts retail Kodachrome film and subsequently launches Kodacolor negative film. Canon freed the Hansa Canon in 1936, the firstborn 35mm focal-plane shutter camera.

1948: The conception of the Polaroid camera is introduced in the market. American scientist Edwin Land produced the routine for instant photography. Later Polaroid Corporation invented the ‘instant color’ film around 1963.

1957: Frenchman Jaques Yves Cousteau devised the firstborn waterproof 35mm camera for underwater photography named the Calypso Phot. The actual camera was formulated by the Belgian airplane technical architect Jean de Wouters based on the blueprint and suggestions given to him by Cousteau.

1972: The electronic camera that does not require film was produced and patented by Texas Instruments. This is notwithstanding not the same as a digital camera altho you don’t require film in digital cameras as well. The launch of the digital camera is still a lot of years away.

1975: Kodak’s experiments with digital imaging kicked off around the mid seventies but it will take another 20 years before a digital camera for the home buyer market is launched.

1978 – 1980: Asian players like Konica and Sony get started to make their mark. The ‘point and shoot’ automatic focus camera is launched by Konica while Sony starts talking with regards to the camcorder and demonstrates a prototype.

Digital imaging and processing is introduced by Pixar.

Digital means, the photographic effigy is disunited into tiny units of dots or squares known as pixels. Pixels are the programmable units of an effigy that may be processed by computers. Each effigy could be made up of millions of pixels. The use of pixels in digital engineering science allows storing big volumes of pixels to deliver high definition print quality.

1990: Kodak introduces Photo CD’s. It is a system of storing photographic images on CD and then looking at them on a computer. With this development the user-friendly approach of the camera industry begun to take concrete shape.

1991: Kodak introduces a digital camera purposed at masters and journalists. This digital data may be transposed to a computer and processed for printing. Kodak and Canon are well known digital camera makers and there are likewise various other key brands as well.

The innovation that sparked some an invention in the camera industry found it is way into the digital world as well and continued amongst digital camera manufacturers. During 2001, the Kodak and Microsoft cooperative relationship ensured that digital camera manufacturers could use the power of Picture Transfer Protocol (PTP) popular through Windows.

Manufacturers in a related industry like the printing industry have adapted their merchandise to be in sync with the images devised by digital cameras. Cell phone manufacturers have tied up with digital camera makers to manufacture new age camera phones in recent years. These camera phones may capture images and part the images through the cell phone.

Among the 21st century digital developments are the progressed product offerings from digital cameras manufacturers and these are sure to occupy an crucial place in the ensuing history of camera development. For instance, the Kodak Professional DCS Pro SLR/c is a high-end digital camera and the Kodak website calls the DCS Pro SLR models the most feature-rich digital cameras on the market.

The features offered by digital cameras may be rather mind-boggling for the intermediate user and pretty stimulating for most pros. Four key ongoing camera developments that are likely to further improve the routine of photography:

1. Greater solution from even the simplest, low cost camera models

2. Usage in any type of lighting conditions,

3. Compatibility throughout a range of software, hardware and effigy types

4. Rich colors and tone

While the higher-end digital evolution continues, the prices of the simple camera have crashed to such an extent that even children and teens are proud owners of uncomplicated cameras. The camera and photography interest starts young and this gives rise to a genuinely huge audience base for the camera industry.

And all around history, it is evident that the endeavor of researchers and developers has been to make the camera available to a wide division of society. Without camera engineering and photography, the other key developments of cinema and TV would have been delayed and what a boring place the world would have been without TV and films!!

Early cameras of the 16th and 17th century were competent to project images onto paper or glass but the study of capturing, processing and printing the images took a great deal of more years. Up until the 17th century, scientists believed that light was composed basically of the ‘white’ that is sensed by the humane eye. It took the exploration done by widely known and esteemed physicist Isaac Newton to discover that light is actually composed of a spectrum of colors. While he made a big contribution to the study of optics (that is at the core of camera advances) with this discovery, Newton did not in truth have anything to do with camera development per se.

Studies nonetheless continued well into the 1800′s on how to genuinely capture the effigy onto material. It was for the duration of this time, around 1822 that French researcher Joseph Nicephore Niepce, developed the primary photograph by using paper that was coated with a chemical.

Another Frenchman Louis-Jacques-Mandé Daguerre partnered with Joseph Nicéphore Niépce in 1829, to develop the routine of creating permanent photographs. Joseph Niépce passed from physical life in 1833 but Daguerre continued with the work and succeeded in 1837 after a heap of long years of experimentation. The routine of capturing photographic images that would not fade away, introduced by Daguerre came to be known as the ‘daguerreotype’.

The word ‘photography’ was coined by scientist Sir John F.W. Herschel in 1839 and it is actually is derived from two Greek words ‘photos’ meaning light and ‘graphein’ meaning draw.

A somewhat more modern version of the daguerreotype called the Calotype procedure that makes multiple copies possible using the negative and positive method became available very soon after. In fact, it was for the duration of the 1840′s that the use of photographic images in advertisements introductory started and cameras made their mark on the power of visual communication. It was not much later, in the 1850′s that photographers introductory started experimenting with underwater photography of seascapes.

Up until 1850, the procedure of capturing images was cumbersome requiring upto half an hour of light exposure. The invention made in 1851 by Frederick Scott Archer was a benediction since the new method termed the Collodion routine called for just 2-3 seconds of light exposure to capture an image.

Prior to 1871, photographers went through a development routine where they had to coat the plate with wet chemical each and each time and procedure the effigy immediately. With the invention the gelatin arid plate silver bromide routine by Richard Leach Maddox, negatives did not have to be devised immediately. This was an indispensable invention since up until then the captured effigy had to be processed instantly.

Kodak produced in 1888 by George Eastman has been a progressed day pioneer of sorts in cameras and photography for the masses. George Eastman and the scientists who worked with him at Kodak devised the photographic film in 1889 and made it available in rolls for the mass use of consumers. An primary milestone in our amusement and communication history was the development of transparent roll film by Eastman. This development led to another key invention – the motion picture camera by Thomas Edison’s in 1891.

–>Modern Times

During the 20th century the pace of technology development in cameras and photography continued at an sped up pace much like a lot of other key engineering developments. While various key inventions like car, telephone and the gramophone record happened in the later half of the 19th century, it is the last 100 years that saw major developmental work in a lot of areas of communications engineering science and as well as in other fields – TV, aircrafts, PCs, digital technology, digital cameras, mobile phones, fax machines and the internet, to name a few.

In the case of the camera, the developments simplified the whole procedure of photography, making it accessible to one and all at lowcost prices and the camera industry denizens of our times made it into a mass phenomenon. The original mass use camera became available at the turn of the 20th century and may be traced back to the year 1900. There are hundreds of models of cameras available today both for the novice as well as the professional and the camera is an crucial percentage of any family’s repertoire of must have gadgets.

–>20th century chronology in the history of the camera:

1913: 35 mm still-camera created

1927: The flash bulb introduced by General Electric Co. (The conception of camera flash existed much before but was based on the use of a flash light powder that was formulated by German researchers)

American scientist Edwin Land devised the procedure for instant photography. Later Polaroid Corporation devised the ‘instant color’ film around 1963.

1957: Frenchman Jaques Yves Cousteau devised the initial waterproof 35mm camera for underwater photography named the Calypso Phot. The actual camera was invented by the Belgian airplane technical architect Jean de Wouters based on the blueprint and suggestions given to him by Cousteau.

The use of pixels in digital engineering allows storing huge volumes of pixels to deliver high definition print quality.

1990: Kodak introduces Photo CD’s. It is a system of storing photographic images on CD and then watching them on a computer. With this development the user-friendly approach of the camera industry begun to take concrete shape.

1991: Kodak introduces a digital camera purposed at masters and journalists. This digital info may be transposed to a computer and processed for printing. Kodak and Canon are well known digital camera manufacturers and there are also various other key brands as well.

The innovation that sparked a good deal of an invention in the camera industry found it is way into the digital world as well and continued amongst digital camera manufacturers. During 2001, the Kodak and Microsoft cooperative relationship ensured that digital camera manufacturers could use the power of Picture Transfer Protocol (PTP) frequent through Windows.

Manufacturers in a affiliated industry like the printing industry have adapted their productions to be in sync with the images invented by digital cameras. Cell phone manufacturers have tied up with digital camera makers to create new age camera phones in recent years. These camera phones may capture images and part the images through the cell phone.

Among the 21st century digital developments are the progressed product offerings from digital cameras makers and these are sure to occupy an crucial place in the ensuing history of camera development. For instance, the Kodak Professional DCS Pro SLR/c is a high-end digital camera and the Kodak website calls the DCS Pro SLR models the most feature-rich digital cameras on the market.

The features offered by digital cameras may be rather mind-boggling for the intermediate user and finelooking stimulating for most pros. Four key ongoing camera developments that are likely to further improve the routine of photography:

1. Greater solution from even the simplest, low cost camera models

2. Usage in any type of lighting conditions,

3. Compatibility throughout a range of software, hardware and effigy types

4. Rich colors and tone

While the higher-end digital evolution continues, the prices of the simple camera have crashed to such an extent that even children and teens are proud owners of uncomplicated cameras. The camera and photography interest starts young and this brings about a genuinely big audience base for the camera industry.

And all around history, it is apparent that the endeavor of researchers and developers has been to make the camera available to a wide section of society. Without camera technology and photography, the other key developments of cinema and TV would have been delayed and what a boring place the world would have been without TV and films!!
