Does not fit TomTom XL 340 4.3-Inch entirely

This item was a combo item with TomTom XL 340 4.3-Inch Portable GPS Navigator . It fits the Tom Tom itself however on the back where the windshield attachment piece could not be placed into the case or it would not close properly.

I felt it was kinda useless because where am I suppose to put the windshield holder piece? Also this version of the Tom Tom did not have a place to put the strap on, so again it was useless.

Requested refund.

Too small and stiff

I bought this as a match for my TomTom, but it seems to be too small for it. I have to really wiggle and push the GPS unit to get it to fit and pulling it out is even harder. Maybe the leather is supposed to break in eventually, but right now it doesn’t seem worth the trouble.

it works for me

Not much to say about this cable except that it works and is reasonably priced. One end is a USB plug, the other a USB port-like connector, which allows you to plug things into your computer’s USB port from a distance of a few feet. I was just looking for a cheap cable that would let me plug a Flip Video camera into my laptop (I figured I was bound to break that side-arm off the camera eventually if I kept plugging it directly into the USB port…no doubt I’d forget about it as I was moving the computer around). Anyway, it works fine for my purposes.

Absolutely meets my needs

Thank god for Amazon reviews! I got a Flip Video a couple of months ago and had some trouble getting it to work, partly because the software wouldn’t upload from the Flip to my computer and partly because I couldn’t squeeze in the USB port on the side of the camcorder to the already crowded back panel of my computer. When you look at the accessories page for the Flip, you’ll see a cord made specially for the Flip. It gets unbelievably awful reviews, the most common complaint being that it simply doesn’t fit. So, based on those almost universally awful reviews, I sought other options. I’m glad I did!

This cord works perfectly with my Flip. I’ve been somewhat slow to use my Flip, but this cord is one of the things that is going to help me do more. I definitely recommend it as one of the essential items for anyone owning a Flip Video.

What’s not to love

On my Dell, access to the USB ports is either in the back under the desk or in the front, under some plastic overhang, and skewed sideways. Either way it was a pain to use for something that you need to plug in and out a lot like an iPod or digital camera. Worse, they are impossible to use with something like the flip video that has a built-in USB plug on a short arm.

So I decided to get an extension cable so that I could plug in anything easily. I checked out Staples and Radio Shack and found $25 minimum for a simple A/A cable. But amazon and Cables-to-go came through with an inexpensive 10 foot cable that simplifies hooking up my peripherals to my computer. (I probably could have gotten away with the 3 foot cable but better to be too long than too short.) I plug in the cable and leave the other end disconnected on top of the PC where it waits patiently to be needed. The cable feels solid and gives every impression of being able to hold up to some abuse. I have used it with my iPod, my digital camera, and my flip video camera without any problems.

Anyone who buys a flip video camera MUST buy either the 10 foot or three foot A/A cable. Everyone else should buy it so that they don’t have to struggle to get their iPod or digital camera hooked up. It does the job it is supposed to do, does it well, is solidly built, and is cheaper than anything else I could find. Strongly recommended.

Update (December 2008): I have had it for over a year and have had no problems with the cable. Well worth the price.

Adaptable charger

I originally bought this as a car charger without much desire to use it as a wall charger (until my other wall charger broke last week). The device is very compact and folds up nicely when I want to store it. It’s very durable and since all the components fold up into the inside, I don’t have to worry about dropping it and braking something off. I use it in my car all the time and occasionally take it into the house for some wall charging. Works great for charing my phone, batteries, iPods, or anything else you take with you everywhere.

Cheap ink, but does the job well

I bought this ink to print photos on my iP4700 and I have just placed the order for the 2nd pack.

Good things about this ink:
1) It’s cheap
2) It seems to be fairly consistent, meaning that when I switch the cartridge of yellow, for example, color balance of the print doesn’t change much. I am curious to see if the 2nd shipment will be close to the 1st one as well.
3) After using a color calibration software and hardware, I am able to get a great prints with vivid and accurate colors.

Not so good thing:
1) This ink is not close to the original ink, so if you just use this ink and don’t do any color balancing, you will get an image with a purple sky instead of a blue one.

Overall:
This ink is surprisingly good for being so cheap. With proper calibration it can be used for printing great photos, it will also do fine with a regular document printing. However don’t bother buying this ink if you are expecting to print photos, but don’t have the calibration hardware – you most likely will be disappointed with the result.

UPDATE
I went through 3 packs of this ink so far.
Unfortunately the color of the ink does change a little between different cartridges, so I have to re-calibrate my printer every time I switch a cartridge (in fact – I just switch them all at once, as it’s easier). I still think this is amazing ink for the price, I will definitely continue using it.

Dont waste your money, this is worthless

I will keep it short, but let me start by saying if you value photo quality, you mght as well hang a sandwich baggy in front and shoot through that. Well the photo does have some clarity in the very center frame, but wicked barrel distortion and out of focus towards the edges.
Now let me tell you thie greatest feature of this product: built-in, permanent vignetting! All four corners of every shot show the edges of the lens perimeter (dark shadow). Whoever designed this used a very cheap optical element, and did not even care to design it physically to work properly with the Iphone.
I guess for $11, you get what you paid for. Thats why I took a chance. I threw my money away. This thing should be sold in a dollar store. Thats the quality you can expect.

Fun accessory for the iPhone 4S

When people are telling me why they will never give up their Blackberry or Droid, they usually say something like “I don’t need 400,000 apps.” And of course they are right. They don’t need 400,000 apps but they might need 20 and use 75. The more apps from which to choose the more likely they are to find the right apps for their purposes.

Along comes the iPhone 4S with an amazing built-in 8MP 5X Digital Zoom camera and 1080p video recorder and the sales of digital point and shoot cameras nosedive. Why? Because who needs a dedicated camera when your camera takes calls, navigates, posts your pictures to iCloud, and reminds you to pick up the dry-cleaning when you leave work. With the iPhone 4S come lots of apps, but there is one thing those apps can’t do. The digital zoom is limited to 5X and its not optical.

In a couple of years we will either laugh at this add-on or be so used to it we don’t even notice when the guy next to us at Yellowstone has a zoom lens protruding from his iPhone 7S. But now is now, and this little lens, though hardly perfect is a welcome addition to my camera bag where my real camera a Nikon D80 10.2MP Digital SLR Camera Kit with 18-135mm AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor Lens is stored.

It starts with a clear tight plastic case into which an iPhone 4 or 4S is snapped. Then a 3 in long telephoto lens is slipped onto a fitting. The optical lens zooms and it is important to engage the zoom or you will see a barrel effect. Coupled with the 5X digital zoom( pinch the screen to digitally zoom) on the 4S, that equates to 30X. Image stabilization issues about at that setting so bracing it is a good idea.

The price on this gadget is amazing, about what you’d pay for a mid-level app. It needs an instruction sheet in its documentation which delayed me slightly. A small bag for the lens would be nice as well. But all in all it is great fun at a great price.
